The audience was convinced that Rony Schmidt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eraldo Guzman was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joaquim Tasso to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Ricardo Viscarra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adolfo Adrio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 56th minute, Joaquim Tasso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joaquim Tasso couldn't finish the play. After taking down the ball on 0 descensos's corner Joaquim Tasso fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Eraldo Guzman quite easily take care of the ball. Eraldo Guzman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joaquim Tasso's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. The supporters of Honduras booed when 0 descensos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo Peli didn't get a good kick on the ball. 89 minutes into the match, 0 descensos's Joaquim Tasso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eraldo Guzman narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The 0 descensos supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing 0 descensos would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
