Ricardinho Lopes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvestre Pumarejo, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. The supporters of FC Steaua Pildesti booed when Tornadele Siret was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xulian Diez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tornadele Siret's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Vladislav Trúpchev in the 16th minute. A nice corner shot did that Vladislav Trúpchev got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Marian Văduvescu quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After 17 played minutes FC Steaua Pildesti got a freekick which was hit by Constantin Deșliu. Marian Văduvescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabian Postelnicescu in the 22nd minute of the match. 28 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Steaua Pildesti's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Adrian Mutu was slow to take the kick. During this time Tornadele Siret's players had a chance to rest. In the 30th minute Fabian Postelnicescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marian Văduvescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With an all-out effort, FC Steaua Pildesti's Ricardinho Lopes threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Silvestre Pumarejo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 38 minutes FC Steaua Pildesti's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Adrian Mutu who took care of the corner kick. In the 47thth minute of the game Lucian Stere who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tornadele Siret's Ricardinho Lopes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zygmunt Dunajski to strike the kick off in the second half. Ricardinho Lopes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zygmunt Dunajski in the 51st minute of play. After 84 played minutes FC Steaua Pildesti got a freekick which was hit by Terry Doyle. 85 minutes into the match, FC Steaua Pildesti's goalkeeper Marian Văduvescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adrian Mutu. The audience thought a goal was coming when Remus Pinczewski got free with Marian Văduvescu in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Tornadele Siret booed when FC Steaua Pildesti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Denis Marinescu didn't get a good kick on the ball.
