Gitarriu's Bernebe Sabugal got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bernebe Sabugal struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Archibaldo Unzueta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gitarriu. The audience was convinced that Frankie Yankovich's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Archibaldo Unzueta was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. Rubén Lacorte could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Fidel Higuera made a huge save. With a little luck, Gitarriu's Fidel Higuera got control of the ball when Rubén Lacorte tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Lundström in the 47th minute of play forced VALPICA C.F.'s goalkeeper Archibaldo Unzueta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 84th minute Gitarriu were awarded a corner. Vergaray Casero went to the cornerflag to take it. Vergaray Casero made a great header on Gitarriu's corner, it was just that VALPICA C.F.'s Archibaldo Unzueta managed to reach the ball for a save.
