SV PM Cottbus's Erk Noffke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andy Vincent in the 9th minute of play. After 11 played minutes Fire Devils got a freekick which was hit by Pete Brandenberg. In the 12th match minute, SV PM Cottbus was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Federico Ecke to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Andreas Furcas during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Andreas Furcas hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Joaquin Koch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Federico Ecke in the 14th minute of the match. Carl Tempels short, quick shot in the 18thth minute got Joaquin Koch to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Andy Vincent had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 27th minute Fire Devils were awarded a corner. Andreas Furcas went to the cornerflag to take it. Erk Noffke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andreas Furcas, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. The corner led Fire Devils's Andy Vincent to fire away a dangerous shot which Erk Noffke despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Fire Devils's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Carl Tempel 39 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. In the 42nd minute, Carl Tempel reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Joaquin Koch. The goal made the score 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Andy Vincent made a kick off. If Ueli Siegenthaler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carl Tempel in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquin Koch prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Joaquin Koch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carl Tempel in the 54th minute of play. After 59th play minutes Federico Ecke shot 4-0, a short shot which went by Joaquin Koch and just under the crossbar into goal. After having played for 62 minutes, Udo Renger managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SV PM Cottbus's supporters crossed their fingers, but Udo Renger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 63 minutes into the match, Heribert Löning notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Fire Devils's Joaquin Koch. Joaquin Koch was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Mirko Kiefert fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SV PM Cottbus's protests and gave Mirko Kiefert a yellow card for diving instead. In the 66th match minute, SV PM Cottbus was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mirko Kiefert to maneuver through the defense. Joaquin Koch made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-0. When SV PM Cottbus's Federico Ecke in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The SV PM Cottbus fans cheered their team off the field, for while Fire Devils had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
