Walter Huarte stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Grabiel Escorcia's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. Nacional's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Andrea Heraso in the 9th minute. In the 11th minute, Stuart Mayo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 13 minutes into the match, Grabiel Escorcia notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Astillero del Guayas's Walter Huarte. Walter Huarte was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Walter Huarte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grabiel Escorcia, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. 19 minutes into the game, Nacional's Grabiel Escorcia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. After a defensive mix-up in Astillero del Guayas's zone, Grabiel Escorcia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Walter Huarte came out of the goal and Grabiel Escorcia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Walter Huarte didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Grabiel Escorcia went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. 30 minutes into the match, Nacional's Grabiel Escorcia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Walter Huarte narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Grabiel Escorcia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Walter Huarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The corner ended in Andrea Heraso almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Astillero del Guayas's Walter Huarte did a great save.
Grabiel Escorcia scored 0-4 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Walter Huarte, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Walter Huarte was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Grabiel Escorcia showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-5 in the 58 minute of play. Astillero del Guayas's defense didn't have a chance, in the 73rd minute, when Grabiel Escorcia scored to the left of an out of position Walter Huarte, making the score, 0-7. After a rather tough play, Astillero del Guayas's Hakkı Deniz Bedi got a free kick in the 87th minute. 88 minutes in the game, Grabiel Escorcia fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Walter Huarte having to interfere. After 89 played minutes Nacional got a freekick which was hit by Stuart Mayo. Nacional's Grabiel Escorcia was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 91st play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Grabiel Escorcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Grabiel Escorcia got free with Walter Huarte in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Astillero del Guayas fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Nacional were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
