But to his dismay, Valentim Leão quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. In the 27th minute, Gualterio Aguirre hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 32nd minute Ramiro Quintanilha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aldo Hawk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led Italiano's Diego Armando Maradona to fire away a dangerous shot which Aldo Hawk despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Peter Shilton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valentim Leão in the 70th minute of the match. Peter Shilton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valentim Leão in the 94th minute of the match. Peter Shilton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wiley Boyle, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Atlético Patoruzu had won after a very even match.
