Mihnea Negrițoiu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Hipólito Freire kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Virgil Hănescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Balduíno Felício. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Virgil Hănescu ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 25th minute, Pedro Maurito left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Desert Fury fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Miguel Savimbi during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Ştefan Moculescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ştefan Moculescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Balduíno Felício having to interfere. Vítor Meneses scored 1-3 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mihnea Negrițoiu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 47 minutes into the match, Desert Fury's goalkeeper Balduíno Felício had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ştefan Moculescu. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Mihnea Negrițoiu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Avelino Barreiros went, in the 78th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. The crowd rose to their feet as Desert Fury's Fábio Regalado slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mihnea Negrițoiu. That made the score 1-5 after 81 minutes of play. The supporters of Desert Fury booed when The Valar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudiu Iorgovan didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Valar's Mihnea Negrițoiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Freire in the 90th minute of play. Balduíno Felício showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gheorghe Simion, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. The Desert Fury supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Desert Fury would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
