The Roceira SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcell Barovero should have stopped the shot. In the 11th minute Genaro Azibar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcell Barovero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcell Barovero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan-Ivar Nordmo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roceira SC's Marcell Barovero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jan-Ivar Nordmo in the 27th minute of play. A collision led to Mercedes getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Genaro Azibar hit a great ball. Augusto Ellande showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aílton Damião in the 30th minute of the match. Marcell Barovero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan-Ivar Nordmo, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Marcell Barovero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Honorato Kauldi in the 45th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dedê Oliveira in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Augusto Ellande prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Fermin Segio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Marcell Barovero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 79 played minutes Roceira SC got a freekick which was hit by Valdo das Neves. After having played for 80 minutes, Teodosio Eutor managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mercedes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teodosio Eutor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 85 minutes into the match, Roceira SC's goalkeeper Marcell Barovero had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fermin Segio. In the 88th match minute, Roceira SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paolo Rossi to maneuver through the defense. In the 90th minute, Kubat Älibalalı ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcell Barovero was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-5. Fermin Segio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Marcell Barovero made a huge save. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Mercedes walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
