An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Olmos in the 15th minute of play forced Club Deportes Santa Cruz's goalkeeper Virgilio Patiño to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Teobaldo Recciuc had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elodio Angellotti. Inter de Chillán's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Teobaldo Recciuc was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Oscar Olmos took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Virgilio Patiño. The Inter de Chillán fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Elodio Angellotti should have stopped the shot. Francisco Lacunza received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Virgilio Patiño came out and tried to block the shot, but Francisco Lacunza slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 32nd minute. Elodio Angellotti showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Antonio Porter in the 37th minute of the match. Adam Badiola hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Elodio Angellotti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iván Dayson, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. In the 45th minute, Fernán Nancupel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Hocine Minh made the kick off in the second half. Hocine Minh might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Virgilio Patiño. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hocine Minh ran back to his position shaking his head. After 52 minutes of play, Inter de Chillán's Francisco Lacunza made it 3-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Virgilio Patiño was left in no man's land by his defense there! Leoncio Mac Lean hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Virgilio Patiño took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Lacunza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Elodio Angellotti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mercurio Pasos, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. After 60 played minutes Inter de Chillán got a freekick which was hit by Xulián Cabrera. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iván Dayson in the 61st minute of play forced Inter de Chillán's goalkeeper Elodio Angellotti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elodio Angellotti made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manuel Antonio Porter in the 65th minute of play. Hocine Minh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. After 75 minutes of play, Inter de Chillán's Hocine Minh made it 4-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Virgilio Patiño was left in no man's land by his defense there! Xulián Cabrera hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. In the 83rd minute, Raymundo Montoya got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 86 minutes into the match, Inter de Chillán's goalkeeper Elodio Angellotti had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mercurio Pasos. 87 minutes into the game, Clemencín Moltedo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Inter de Chillán's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Deportes Santa Cruz the free kick. Clemencín Moltedo hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. In the 89th minute Teobaldo Recciuc shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elodio Angellotti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Club Deportes Santa Cruz were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
