The audience thought a goal was coming when Denimir Tzonkov got free with Stepan Firago in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 16th minute, Bulgaria's Denimir Tzonkov ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Stepan Firago. Stepan Firago yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Hristofor Borchev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Svetaslav Yanchyk in the 26th minute of the match. Hristofor Borchev stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Svetaslav Yanchyk's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Belarus's zone, Denimir Tzonkov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stepan Firago came out of the goal and Denimir Tzonkov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 33rd minute, Bulgaria's Denimir Tzonkov dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. After a rather tough play, Bulgaria's Lachezar Kavaldzhiev got a free kick in the 37th minute. After having played for 44 minutes, Denimir Tzonkov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bulgaria's supporters crossed their fingers, but Denimir Tzonkov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 45th minute, Ignat Nozharov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

Hristofor Borchev made an important save on a dangerous shot by Svetaslav Yanchyk in the 53rd minute. Stepan Firago took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denimir Tzonkov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hristofor Borchev made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Svetaslav Yanchyk sent off a good shot on target. In the 60th minute Svetaslav Yanchyk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hristofor Borchev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Bulgaria booed when Belarus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Svetaslav Navojka didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marko Ruskov might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Stepan Firago. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marko Ruskov ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 71st minute Marko Ruskov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stepan Firago saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Belarus fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. In the 91st minute Marko Ruskov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stepan Firago saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 95th minute, Marko Ruskov left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bulgaria fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-1. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Bulgaria had won after a very even match.
