In the 4th minute, SOUTH AFRICA's Artemio Jokin ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Higinio Pueblo. Higinio Pueblo yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Demetrio Spiazzi in the 11th minute of play forced Yucatan F.C.'s goalkeeper Higinio Pueblo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in SOUTH AFRICA's zone, Angel Matai stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Romeo Dominic came out of the goal and Angel Matai tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 14 played minutes Yucatan F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Juan Gabriel. Yucatan F.C.'s Higinio Pueblo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Yucatan F.C. from getting a goal against them. Isaac Terris hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. 22 minutes into the match, Yucatan F.C.'s goalkeeper Higinio Pueblo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Artemio Jokin. SOUTH AFRICA's Demetrio Spiazzi got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 28th minute Victor Gartzen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeo Dominic saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 34th minute of the match, Artemio Jokin got a very nice opportunity to score, but Higinio Pueblo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After 36 minutes, Angel Matai made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. SOUTH AFRICA's Romeo Dominic tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 40th minute, Benicio Loiola ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Romeo Dominic was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Higinio Pueblo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Elvio Ted in the 43rd minute. After 44 played minutes Yucatan F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Juan Gabriel. Higinio Pueblo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Demetrio Spiazzi in the 45th minute of play. Angel Matai hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Juan Gabriel was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by Yucatan F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Artemio Jokin was slow to take the kick. During this time SOUTH AFRICA's players had a chance to rest. In the 56th minute Demetrio Spiazzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Higinio Pueblo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Artemio Jokin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Higinio Pueblo was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. Higinio Pueblo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artemio Jokin in the 61st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Gabriel in the 62nd minute of play forced SOUTH AFRICA's goalkeeper Romeo Dominic to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Demetrio Spiazzi in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Higinio Pueblo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 64 minutes Yucatan F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Artemio Jokin who took care of the corner kick. In the 65th match minute, SOUTH AFRICA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arsenio Oinatz to maneuver through the defense. After 66 played minutes Yucatan F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Juan Gabriel. In the 68th minute Benicio Loiola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeo Dominic saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 69 minutes into the match, Yucatan F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Artemio Jokin came free, but Higinio Pueblo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Higinio Pueblo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Demetrio Spiazzi in the 71st minute of the match. Higinio Pueblo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Artemio Jokin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Higinio Pueblo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Demetrio Spiazzi, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. 82 minutes into the match, SOUTH AFRICA's goalkeeper Romeo Dominic had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Victor Gartzen. Romeo Mel hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. The Yucatan F.C. supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Yucatan F.C. would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
