After having played for 5 minutes, Sandrinho Batista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Milho SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sandrinho Batista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Minas Esporte Clube's Luís Paulo Coutinho got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 10 minutes into the game, Minas Esporte Clube's Luís Paulo Coutinho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Osvaldinho Negri made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Luís Fabiano Marquez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leopoldo Mazza in the 18th minute of play. Leopoldo Mazza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Luís Fabiano Marquez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Minas Esporte Clube's attack was well implemented in the 23rd minute, but when Luís Paulo Coutinho was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. 25 minutes into the match, Minas Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Leopoldo Mazza came free, but Luís Fabiano Marquez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leopoldo Mazza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sandrinho Batista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Luís Fabiano Marquez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luís Fabiano Marquez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leopoldo Mazza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Osvaldinho Negri was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Wilson Rosa showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 40 minute of play. In the 43rd match minute, Milho SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Francisco Azevedo to maneuver through the defense. Minas Esporte Clube's Pedro Paulo Dracena was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Osvaldinho Negri in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Sandrinho Batista made the kick off in the second half. When Wilson Rosa came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Minas Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wilson Rosa couldn't finish the play. Sandrinho Batista was extremely unlucky when he, in the 58th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Minas Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Luís Fabiano Marquez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luís Paulo Coutinho in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Osvaldinho Negri prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 70 played minutes Milho SS got a freekick which was hit by Ricardinho Fernandez. Luís Paulo Coutinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Osvaldinho Negri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 75 minutes into the game, Wilson Rosa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Minas Esporte Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Milho SS the free kick. Valdomiro Pirani's shot from long distance in the 95th minute was not bad at all, but Minas Esporte Clube's Luís Fabiano Marquez knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post.
