With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valdir da Rocha in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Renan Fontes saved Centauros from getting behind. 12 minutes into the match, Esteio SC's goal looked a bit too open when Tales Torres came free, but Adriano Lira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Valdir da Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Centauros's Bruno de Toledo got a free kick in the 15th minute. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Centauros's goalkeeper Renan Fontes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Célio Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The long shot by Aloísio Salgado in the 31st minute really tested Renan Fontes's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Valdir da Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Esteio SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Valdir da Rocha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Renan Fontes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Célio Fontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Valdir da Rocha got free in front of the goal in the 37th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Renan Fontes was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. If Célio Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Centauros's Renan Fontes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdir da Rocha in the 45th minute of play. Renan Fontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdir da Rocha in the 47th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Valdir da Rocha to make the kick off. When Esteio SC's Fernando Mazza in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Centauros's goalie prevented a goal. Adriano Lira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tales Torres in the 56th minute. Renan Fontes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdir da Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edson Barros kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdir da Rocha in the 63rd minute of play forced Centauros's goalkeeper Renan Fontes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 64th minute, Valdir da Rocha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Renan Fontes was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. If Diogo da Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Esteio SC's Célio Fontes got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 73 minutes, Célio Fontes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esteio SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Célio Fontes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Célio Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Valdir da Rocha's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Renan Fontes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. In the 85th minute, Diogo da Rocha fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Célio Fontes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Esteio SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Célio Fontes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Renan Fontes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Valdir da Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Valdir da Rocha got free in front of the goal in the 90th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Renan Fontes was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Adriano Lira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diogo da Rocha in the 96th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Esteio SC had won after a very even match.
