Lázaro Charro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Angelino Chaime in the 16th minute of play. 20 minutes into the match, Soconcho's goalkeeper Nicanor Tabby had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Benito Abechuco. After some careless play in the Merlo Plate defense, Marco Rodriguez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lázaro Charro. The Merlo Plate fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lázaro Charro should have stopped the shot. Angelino Chaime sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 46 minutes, Benito Abechuco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Merlo Plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Benito Abechuco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marco Rodriguez was the one to do the kick off. Norberto Hegoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicanor Tabby having to interfere. When Norberto Hegoi came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Merlo Plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Norberto Hegoi couldn't finish the play. Marco Rodriguez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Lázaro Charro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lázaro Charro came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Soconcho's Angelino Chaime. But to his dismay, Angelino Chaime quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After having played for 65 minutes, Marco Rodriguez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Soconcho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marco Rodriguez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nicanor Tabby made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benito Abechuco in the 69th minute of play. If Benito Abechuco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Angelino Chaime struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Lázaro Charro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Soconcho. The supporters of Soconcho booed when Merlo Plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Apolo Nardo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marco Rodriguez struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Lázaro Charro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Soconcho. 92 minutes into the match, Soconcho's goal looked a bit too open when Benito Abechuco came free, but Nicanor Tabby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
