Fausto Valentine didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bengolea. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Marcelo Arce managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bengolea's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcelo Arce was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fausto Valentine breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fausto Valentine showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eloy Jerrold, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Gogo Eguen charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gogo Eguen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gogo Eguen kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. If Marcelo Arce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 39th minute, Marcelo Arce got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eulalio Pio might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Rivas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eulalio Pio ran back to his position shaking his head. Bengolea's Julio Rivas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eulalio Pio in the 46th minute of play. 46 minutes into the game, Despidida's Eulalio Pio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Rivas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
