The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Angelo Matia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Silvano Frutos went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 13 minutes into the match, Sol y Sierra FC's goalkeeper Cayetano Gelmiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Godfredo Etxeberri. Isaias Santiago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sergio Indalecio hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. When Juan Gauargi fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sol y Sierra FC's protests and gave Juan Gauargi a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th minute, Juan Gauargi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Godfredo Etxeberri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Sol y Sierra FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ciro Chaime made a kick off. Cayetano Gelmiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Isaias Santiago's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. Alejo Vidal hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. A collision led to Sol y Sierra FC getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Mauro Farias hit a great ball. In the 75th minute, Mauro Farias fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Angelo Matia, passed just outside the right post. The supporters of Nottingham Forest F.C. booed when Sol y Sierra FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mauro Farias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nottingham Forest F.C.'s Hernan Paez got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 85th minute, Silvano Frutos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 90 minutes into the match, Sol y Sierra FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hernan Paez came free, but Cayetano Gelmiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Isaias Santiago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Cayetano Gelmiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 95 played minutes Sol y Sierra FC got a freekick which was hit by Manuel Bertol. When the final whistle went the supporters of Sol y Sierra FC were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Nottingham Forest F.C. side.
