Håvard Skramstad stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of August Friestad's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. 15 minutes into the match, Kirkenær BF's goal looked a bit too open when August Bergsland came free, but Håvard Skramstad reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brufoss IL's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by August Bergsland in the 16th minute. Brufoss IL's Leif Opdal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Brufoss IL from getting a goal against them. Through an outstanding action, after 23 minutes, Leif Opdal successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 24th match minute, Kirkenær BF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christian Løvlie to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot 27 in the game by Jonathan Omland from a close distance when the talented Leif Opdal managed to make a qualified save. Brufoss IL's players were relieved. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Storm Furu in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leif Opdal saved Brufoss IL from getting behind. The supporters of Kirkenær BF booed when Brufoss IL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Asbjørn Sigurdsen didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. August Friestad was the one to do the kick off. Jo Reitan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leif Opdal having to interfere. Brufoss IL's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kirkenær BF the free kick. Kirkenær BF's Jonathan Omland got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Leif Opdal came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Kirkenær BF's Storm Furu. But to his dismay, Storm Furu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Brufoss IL made a substitution. Tom Utheim replaced Nils-Arne Bruvik. Brufoss IL's Christer Ribe was substituted for Ole-Kristian Lekven. If Jonathan Omland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 77 minutes into the match, Brufoss IL's Asbjørn Sigurdsen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Håvard Skramstad narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the Brufoss IL defense, Jonathan Omland kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leif Opdal. The Brufoss IL fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leif Opdal should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Kirkenær BF getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Jan-Kenneth Nerhus hit a great ball. Brufoss IL's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
