Roderick Heerspink started the match with the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gijsbert de Rooy during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 46 minutes, Ernst Traa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Werthers Original SC and the Eelen players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Werthers Original SC's Ernst Traa got a free kick in the 46th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
