Jacob Dowie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leon de Winter, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Filip Bekker struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Jacob Dowie didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Goodtimes FC. Varsel's Jacob Dowie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leon de Winter in the 18th minute of play. Ronald de Ridder's late challenge caught a Goodtimes FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ronald de Ridder helped the player get up and apologised. Taco Alberts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Varsel's zone, Leon de Winter stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacob Dowie came out of the goal and Leon de Winter tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Willem Meder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, Varsel could leave the field as winners, despite Goodtimes FC having more of the ball for most of the match.
