A collision led to RB Leipzig getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Wilken Mangelmann hit a great ball. The supporters of RB Leipzig booed when SC Freiburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timo Kremer didn't get a good kick on the ball. A very good chance. 13 minutes into the match, Kai Boris Tripp had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Raoul Frank. RB Leipzig's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kai Boris Tripp was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 17th match minute, SC Freiburg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fulko Barge to maneuver through the defense. In the 25th minute, Mehdi Lange hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Fulko Barge fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Freiburg's protests and gave Fulko Barge a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of RB Leipzig booed when SC Freiburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fulko Barge didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kai Boris Tripp in the 33rd minute of play forced RB Leipzig's goalkeeper Raoul Frank to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kai Boris Tripp blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Raoul Frank having to make a save. Timo Kremer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raoul Frank having to interfere. Jochen Benscheider recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

Frederico Salecker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raoul Frank having to interfere. With a little luck, RB Leipzig's Raoul Frank got control of the ball when Kai Boris Tripp tried to sneak it across the goal line. Oliver Holoch kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. In the 91st minute, Frederico Salecker got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Curt Kracht showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jochen Benscheider, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute.
