Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Julius Schrumpf started the match with the kick off. Julius Drube charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Julius Drube the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Julius Drube hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Padberg FSV's Oliver Bolle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julius Drube in the 11th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Julius Schrumpf in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Oliver Bolle prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Oliver Bolle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julius Schrumpf, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zenobio Born's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Roland Husser firmly grabbed it by the left post. After a rather tough play, FC Schalke 04's Julius Drube got a free kick in the 24th minute. 25 minutes into the match, Padberg FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Julius Schrumpf came free, but Oliver Bolle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 26th minute by Zenobio Born got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Julius Drube in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Oliver Bolle saved Padberg FSV from getting behind. Julius Drube fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oliver Bolle having to interfere. After having played for 37 minutes, Manuel Igelbüscher managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Padberg FSV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manuel Igelbüscher was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Roland Husser was a little too slow when Manuel Igelbüscher got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 42nd minute. The score was now 1-1. 45 minutes into the match, FC Schalke 04's goalkeeper Roland Husser had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zenobio Born. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Manuel Igelbüscher stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to FC Schalke 04 getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Baptist Bochen hit a great ball. Zenobio Born received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Roland Husser tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oliver Bolle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julius Schrumpf in the 56th minute of the match. 57 minutes into the game, Julius Drube cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Oliver Bolle was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Padberg FSV's goalkeeper Oliver Bolle, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Julius Drube could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Oliver Bolle made a huge save. Zenobio Born struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Roland Husser didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Padberg FSV. In the 74th minute Florian Lasotta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roland Husser saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Florian Lasotta hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Oliver Bolle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julius Schrumpf, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Padberg FSV's Eckhard Zacher suffered a sore foot after 79 minutes and couldn't finish the game. In the 80th match minute, FC Schalke 04 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matthias Guddorf to maneuver through the defense. In the 81st match minute, FC Schalke 04 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Samir Preußler to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Padberg FSV's Oliver Bolle got control of the ball when Julius Drube tried to sneak it across the goal line. 87 minutes into the match, Julius Schrumpf had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Oliver Bolle. Padberg FSV's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Julius Schrumpf was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. FC Schalke 04 had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
