In the 13th minute, Chelsea's Basil Mhlongo seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Basil Mhlongo the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Chelsea protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Basil Mhlongo had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 13th minute, one of Chelsea:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Chelsea. Soloman Mafuna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sibongile Manyethela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nkosi Mnisi, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Eric Nhlapo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Albert Shongwe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chelsea's Sibongile Manyethela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bradley Roberts in the 28th minute of play. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Charles Shoba stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 61 minutes into the match, Chelsea's goal looked a bit too open when Nkosi Mnisi came free, but Sibongile Manyethela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 65 played minutes Chelsea got a freekick which was hit by Mathibela Mufadi. 66 minutes into the match, Ncise's Etienne Stoltz broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Sipho Tshabalala's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Sibongile Manyethela firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 71 played minutes Ncise got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Kolwa. Eric Nhlapo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albert Shongwe having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Ncise's zone, Patrick Sibeko stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Albert Shongwe came out of the goal and Patrick Sibeko tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Soloman Mafuna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eric Nhlapo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Ncise booed when Chelsea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kenny Zwane didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee ended the match the Chelsea players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
