Besim Vecdet could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Sakis Kaladosis made a huge save. 9 minutes into the match, Epeios Solomos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Di Xuan Zhan. ΑΙΕΝ ΥΨΙΚΡΑΤΕΙΝ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Epeios Solomos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Besim Vecdet managed to get in a good position for a shot. ΑΙΕΝ ΥΨΙΚΡΑΤΕΙΝ's supporters rose to their feet, but Besim Vecdet was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sakis Kaladosis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 13th match minute, ΑΙΕΝ ΥΨΙΚΡΑΤΕΙΝ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fotis Theofilopoulos to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Aek athens's Sakis Kaladosis got control of the ball when Besim Vecdet tried to sneak it across the goal line. Aek athens's Sakis Kaladosis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Aek athens from getting a goal against them. In the 19th minute, Besim Vecdet reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Sakis Kaladosis. The goal made the score 1-1. 23 minutes into the match, ΑΙΕΝ ΥΨΙΚΡΑΤΕΙΝ's goal looked a bit too open when Epeios Solomos came free, but Di Xuan Zhan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Besim Vecdet could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Sakis Kaladosis made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet as Besim Vecdet kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sakis Kaladosis. That made the score 2-1 in the 26 minute of play. Besim Vecdet blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sakis Kaladosis having to make a save. Besim Vecdet's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Sakis Kaladosis firmly grabbed it by the left post. Sakis Kaladosis made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Besim Vecdet sent off a good shot on target. Di Xuan Zhan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Epeios Solomos in the 34th minute of the match. Fabián Cannavaro's late challenge caught a ΑΙΕΝ ΥΨΙΚΡΑΤΕΙΝ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fabián Cannavaro helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Aek athens getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Fabián Cannavaro hit a great ball. Sakis Kaladosis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Besim Vecdet in the 36th minute. 42 minutes into the match, ΑΙΕΝ ΥΨΙΚΡΑΤΕΙΝ's Besim Vecdet sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sakis Kaladosis narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Aek athens's goalkeeper Sakis Kaladosis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 46 played minutes Aek athens got a freekick which was hit by Fabián Cannavaro. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Besim Vecdet stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Besim Vecdet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
