Alfredo Carricaberry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Melquiades Salvatore having to interfere. In the 14th minute, Remigio Librado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 18 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's goal looked a bit too open when Astor Bixintxo came free, but Melquiades Salvatore reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Anselmo Sarracino got free with Gaston Gomez in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 20 minutes, Fabian Guter mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Atlético Atlanta and the Elite Azulgrana players grew even worse after the yellow card. Elite Azulgrana's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Fossa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Melquiades Salvatore showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isidro Lángara in the 46th minute of the match. In the 47th minute, Donato Nalo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Donato Nalo was the one to do the kick off.
