The audience thought a goal was coming when Robin Steckamp got free with Mänsur Rzayev in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Robin Steckamp received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Mänsur Rzayev came out and tried to block the shot, but Robin Steckamp slotted it home off the left post making it 4-0 in the 23rd minute. Azerbaijan's Mänsur Rzayev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robin Steckamp in the 26th minute of play. If Häsrät Azamämmädov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mänsur Rzayev was a little too slow when Robin Steckamp got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 31st minute. The score was now 5-0. After some careless play in the Azerbaijan defense, Robin Steckamp kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mänsur Rzayev. The Azerbaijan fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mänsur Rzayev should have stopped the shot. In the 40th minute, Robin Steckamp made a precise shot to the right of Mänsur Rzayev. Azerbaijan's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 8-0. 47 minutes into the match, Azerbaijan's goalkeeper Mänsur Rzayev had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Robin Steckamp.
