The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Ahmet Turan Kantürk managed to get in a good position for a shot. Champions Iasi's supporters rose to their feet, but Ahmet Turan Kantürk was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. James Novak breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. FC Carlsberg's Gavril Sichitiu quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Vasile Tarchilă, made in the 17th minute of the game. In the 18th minute of the game Denis Aurelianu made a throw-in which Wieslaw Marud played forward. James Novak showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ahmet Turan Kantürk in the 21st minute of the match. In the 22nd minute Wieslaw Marud shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Lauria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 27th match minute, FC Carlsberg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Remus Costeiantu to maneuver through the defense. Despite this James Novak quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. James Novak made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Ahmet Turan Kantürk sent off a good shot on target. FC Carlsberg's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
