The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, G A I S's Baturay Baltaş got a free kick in the 5th minute. Håkan Gulliksson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matthias Bern in the 8th minute of play. After 9 minutes PKS Marymont Warszawa's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Herman Källberg who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Herman Källberg got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Håkan Gulliksson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. G A I S's Sivert Hurtig played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michal Gerlach in the 11th minute of play. In the 16th minute Juliusz Hyska shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sivert Hurtig saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Håkan Gulliksson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matthias Bern, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 19th minute, Matthias Bern got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to G A I S getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Matthias Bern hit a great ball. 23 minutes into the match, PKS Marymont Warszawa's goalkeeper Håkan Gulliksson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Matthias Bern. In the 24th minute Matthias Bern shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Håkan Gulliksson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 25th minute G A I S were awarded a corner. Herman Källberg went to the cornerflag to take it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matthias Bern in the 27th minute of play forced PKS Marymont Warszawa's goalkeeper Håkan Gulliksson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28th minute of the match G A I S got a corner. PKS Marymont Warszawa's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Herman Källberg ran over to the corner to take the kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Matthias Bern in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Håkan Gulliksson saved PKS Marymont Warszawa from getting behind. Baturay Baltaş sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of PKS Marymont Warszawa booed when G A I S was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cléber Marinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Håkan Gulliksson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matthias Bern in the 38th minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, PKS Marymont Warszawa's goal looked a bit too open when Baturay Baltaş came free, but Håkan Gulliksson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Michal Gerlach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute, G A I S's Matthias Bern dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Michal Gerlach to make the kick off. Håkan Gulliksson came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by G A I S's Matthias Bern. But to his dismay, Matthias Bern quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 59th match minute, PKS Marymont Warszawa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juliusz Hyska to maneuver through the defense. PKS Marymont Warszawa made a substitution. Witalis Bronder replaced Wlodzimierz Dziatkowicz. G A I S's Sivert Hurtig proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save G A I S from getting a goal against them. Håkan Gulliksson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matthias Bern, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. PKS Marymont Warszawa's Hieronim Rosiewicz was substituted for Tomasz Staník. G A I S were awarded a corner in the 78th minute after PKS Marymont Warszawa's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Herman Källberg took the corner. Herman Källberg made a great header on G A I S's corner, it was just that PKS Marymont Warszawa's Håkan Gulliksson managed to reach the ball for a save. When Baturay Baltaş came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the G A I S fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Baturay Baltaş couldn't finish the play. 82 minutes into the match, Hieronim Rosiewicz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sivert Hurtig. G A I S's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hieronim Rosiewicz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. PKS Marymont Warszawa's Håkan Gulliksson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matthias Bern in the 85th minute of play. In the 91st minute Sixten Ekström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Håkan Gulliksson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. PKS Marymont Warszawa's Juliusz Hyska got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. G A I S's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
