Andrea Pugliese ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Bruges's goalkeeper Luc Van Hinnendael, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 37th match minute, AC Milan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Villu Niit to maneuver through the defense. AC Milan's Brun Hello proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save AC Milan from getting a goal against them.
