The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mauro-Facundo Buffon showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Florian Capasso scored 0-1 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arnaldo Toledo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Tarcisio Bittencourt got a throw-in 12 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Jânio Vaz. Merusca F&P's Roberto Bolt got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 19 minutes into the game, Florian Capasso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Arnaldo Toledo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 22 minutes into the match, Fluminense Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Roberto Bolt came free, but Arnaldo Toledo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnaldo Toledo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Florian Capasso went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-6 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Florian Capasso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 played minutes Roberto Bolt rounded Fluminense Football Club's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-7. Fluminense Football Club's defense didn't have a chance, in the 60th minute, when Florian Capasso scored to the left of an out of position Arnaldo Toledo, making the score, 0-8. Merusca F&P's Hélder Fonseca was substituted for Florian Capasso. The crowd rose to their feet as Merusca F&P's Hélder Fonseca slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Arnaldo Toledo. That made the score 0-9 after 64 minutes of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Hélder Fonseca kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Arnaldo Toledo. That made the score 0-10 in the 68 minute of play. Fluminense Football Club's Frédson Amaral was substituted for Zeca Alagoano. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Fluminense Football Club's goalkeeper Arnaldo Toledo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Arnaldo Toledo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hélder Fonseca's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Elói de Queirós during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Merusca F&P's Walmyr Novaes managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Jânio Vaz in the 87 minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Hélder Fonseca kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Arnaldo Toledo. That made the score 0-12 in the 90 minute of play. Hélder Fonseca received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Arnaldo Toledo came out and tried to block the shot, but Hélder Fonseca slotted it home off the left post making it 0-13 in the 94th minute. Merusca F&P's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
