Lei Yue Kun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Evangelista in the 9th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kyle Thake in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gil Massa saved Puerto Argentino from getting behind. With his leg Lei Yue Kun managed to avoid a goal in the 13thth minute, when Puerto Argentino's Fernando Evangelista fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Gil Massa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kyle Thake in the 15th minute of play. Kyle Thake took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gil Massa. Gil Massa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Gil Massa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samuel Lentini, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. The corner led Floriana Celtics's Godwin Montesin to fire away a dangerous shot which Gil Massa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Lei Yue Kun made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fernando Evangelista in the 37th minute. After 40 played minutes Puerto Argentino got a freekick which was hit by Herena Hilari. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pavlos Gonias in the 42nd minute of play forced Floriana Celtics's goalkeeper Lei Yue Kun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fernando Evangelista could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Lei Yue Kun made a huge save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Fernando Evangelista's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lei Yue Kun read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gil Massa, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save.
