In the 16th match minute, Átomo F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diego de Senna to maneuver through the defense. In the 20th minute, Arlindo Zonta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 22 minutes into the game, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Arlindo Zonta nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gualter Brasil made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Xande Cabezudo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Átomo F.C.'s Gualter Brasil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuel Sena in the 32nd minute of play. 33 minutes into the game, Diego Cerezo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Átomo F.C. the free kick. After 33 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Diego Cerezo. After a rather tough play, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Diego Cerezo got a free kick in the 36th minute. After 40 played minutes Átomo F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Diego de Senna. Pedro Ribeiro kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Gualter Brasil showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Samuel Sena in the 42nd minute of the match. After 42nd play minutes Samuel Sena shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Gualter Brasil and just under the crossbar into goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 52nd match minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fabiano Soares to maneuver through the defense. In the 55th minute, Dieguinho Viana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fabiano Saldanha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xande Cabezudo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 58th minute, Xande Cabezudo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Átomo F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Samuel Sena succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-3 in the 68th playminute. The audience was convinced that Jean Senna's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gualter Brasil was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. Fabiano Saldanha didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jean Campidelis went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. Átomo F.C.'s Gualter Brasil proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Átomo F.C. from getting a goal against them. In the 90thth minute of the game Alexandre Xande who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Fabiano Saldanha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 93rd minute, Diego de Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Átomo F.C.'s zone, Sílvio Luís Soares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gualter Brasil came out of the goal and Sílvio Luís Soares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Nova Iguaçu MZFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Nova Iguaçu MZFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
