The coaching staff of MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Ionuț Covrig had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 33rd minute of the game. One of MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC Lugano:s goal. In the 59th minute, Ernest Oprescu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. Victor Lucila's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Godo Gøl read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
