Through an outstanding action, after 52 minutes, Klemen Mikuž successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A collision led to Austria getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Matt Wegener hit a great ball. 60 minutes into the match, Slovenia's goalkeeper Klemen Mikuž had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Michael-Jan Schönberg. Armando Vogrinčič blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hans-Jürgen Pötscher having to make a save. Hans-Jürgen Pötscher showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Armando Vogrinčič, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Justus Lintorf got free with Klemen Mikuž in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Slovenia's supporters rose to their feet, but Ožbej Matos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. In the 78th minute Armando Vogrinčič shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hans-Jürgen Pötscher saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Klemen Mikuž made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robin Steckamp in the 81st minute of play.
