In the 17th minute, Sebastian Ekelund hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of U21 Norway booed when U21 Belgium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jerome Bollaert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Édouard Mendy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastian Ekelund, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 30th minute of the match U21 Norway got a corner. U21 Belgium's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Eskil Tande ran over to the corner to take the kick. 35 minutes into the match, U21 Norway's goal looked a bit too open when Jerome Bollaert came free, but Fred Bonk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Édouard Mendy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastian Ekelund in the 39th minute of play. After having played for 44 minutes, Sebastian Ekelund managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Norway's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastian Ekelund was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sebastian Ekelund received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Édouard Mendy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

With a little luck, U21 Norway's Fred Bonk got control of the ball when Jerome Bollaert tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 58th minute Sebastian Ekelund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Édouard Mendy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of U21 Norway booed when U21 Belgium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulus Van Poucke didn't get a good kick on the ball. U21 Belgium's Ive Volckaerts was substituted for Robben Montens. U21 Belgium's Balu De Hond was substituted for Mark Dewulf. In the 69th match minute, U21 Belgium was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulus Van Poucke to maneuver through the defense. Édouard Mendy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eskil Tande in the 70th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emanuel Obafuso in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fred Bonk saved U21 Norway from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emanuel Obafuso in the 76th minute of play forced U21 Norway's goalkeeper Fred Bonk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80th minute of the game Roel Airpoel made a throw-in which Etienne Van Achteren played forward. Fred Bonk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Etienne Van Achteren in the 81st minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emanuel Obafuso in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fred Bonk prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 86 played minutes U21 Belgium got a freekick which was hit by Ive Volckaerts. 87 minutes into the match, U21 Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Ekelund came free, but Édouard Mendy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sebastian Ekelund fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Édouard Mendy having to interfere. Fred Bonk made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Emanuel Obafuso sent off a good shot on target. The U21 Norway supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching U21 Belgium's performance. The match ended with a win for U21 Belgium.
