Aleksandr Gaponenko started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After a rather tough play, U21 Sweden's Peter Björkman got a free kick in the 2nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Petter Hökqvist in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tadeuz Zubov saved U21 Belarus from getting behind. After 7 played minutes U21 Belarus got a freekick which was hit by Aleksandr Gaponenko. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Petter Hökqvist in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tadeuz Zubov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The U21 Sweden fans' excitement grew in the 10th match minute when U21 Sweden's Petter Hökqvist looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. An unexpectedly hard shot by Petter Hökqvist in the 13th minute of play forced U21 Belarus's goalkeeper Tadeuz Zubov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 14 minutes into the match, Petter Hökqvist had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tadeuz Zubov. U21 Belarus's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Petter Hökqvist was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. If Petter Hökqvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 21st minute, Romeo Beckham Jr hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Petter Hökqvist recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Petter Hökqvist's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tadeuz Zubov was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. U21 Belarus's Tadeuz Zubov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petter Hökqvist in the 27th minute of play. The supporters of U21 Sweden booed when U21 Belarus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aleksandr Gaponenko didn't get a good kick on the ball. Petter Hökqvist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tadeuz Zubov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Petter Hökqvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. 34 minutes into the match, U21 Belarus's goal looked a bit too open when Petter Hökqvist came free, but Tadeuz Zubov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 34 minutes of play, U21 Sweden's Petter Hökqvist made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tadeuz Zubov was left in no man's land by his defense there! U21 Belarus's Tadeuz Zubov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petter Hökqvist in the 46th minute of play. When U21 Sweden's Petter Hökqvist in the 48th minute got a chance for a shot 48th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Belarus's goalie prevented a goal.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Petter Hökqvist stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tadeuz Zubov stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Petter Hökqvist's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. If Petter Hökqvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 57 minutes, Petter Hökqvist managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Sweden's supporters crossed their fingers, but Petter Hökqvist was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Belarus's zone, Petter Hökqvist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tadeuz Zubov came out of the goal and Petter Hökqvist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 61 minutes into the match, Petter Hökqvist notched a goal, 0-6, to the right of U21 Belarus's Tadeuz Zubov. Tadeuz Zubov was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The U21 Sweden fans' excitement grew in the 65th match minute when U21 Sweden's Petter Hökqvist looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-7 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. U21 Sweden's Ingemar Stålman was substituted for Romeo Beckham Jr. U21 Sweden made a substitution. Tage Eklund replaced Petter Hökqvist. If Ingemar Stålman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 74 minutes into the match, U21 Sweden's Tage Eklund sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tadeuz Zubov narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Peter Björkman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. U21 Sweden's Tage Eklund suffered a sprained foot after 78 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 79 minutes, Vadim Salei mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Belarus and the U21 Sweden players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 78th minute of the game. One of U21 Belarus:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of U21 Sweden:s goal. Sten Sandell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tadeuz Zubov having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sven Giöck in the 85th minute of play forced U21 Belarus's goalkeeper Tadeuz Zubov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sven Giöck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Tadeuz Zubov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the U21 Belarus defense, Peter Björkman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tadeuz Zubov. The U21 Belarus fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tadeuz Zubov should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Sven Giöck managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Sweden's supporters rose to their feet, but Sven Giöck was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tadeuz Zubov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 92nd minute, U21 Sweden's Sven Giöck dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-10. Peter Björkman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Tadeuz Zubov made a huge save. 97 minutes into the match, U21 Sweden's Sven Giöck sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tadeuz Zubov narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the final whistle sounded U21 Sweden left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than U21 Belarus.
