After having played for 17 minutes, Simão Gerber managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vasantes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Simão Gerber was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as CE LAJEADENSE RS's Felippe Falcão slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of José Carlos Negri. That made the score 1-2 after 19 minutes of play. Jerônimo Vergílio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Simão Gerber's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. After 24 minutes of play, Vasantes's João Paulo da Silveira made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jerônimo Vergílio was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Simão Gerber in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jerônimo Vergílio saved CE LAJEADENSE RS from getting behind. Jerônimo Vergílio came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Vasantes's Simão Gerber. But to his dismay, Simão Gerber quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-4. Simão Gerber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jerônimo Vergílio having to interfere. Jerônimo Vergílio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Fabiano de Queiroz in the 39th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Simão Gerber in the 40th minute of play forced CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalkeeper Jerônimo Vergílio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristiano Neiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 43rd minute, Válbson Faria got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jerônimo Vergílio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simão Gerber in the 47th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 2-4 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Felippe Falcão made a kick off. CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalkeeper couldn't reach when João Paulo da Silveira 53 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-5. After 57 minutes, Simão Gerber made it 2-6 with a short kick to the right side. CE LAJEADENSE RS's Jerônimo Vergílio tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, CE LAJEADENSE RS's Válbson Cearense got a free kick in the 61st minute. Felipe Senna's late challenge caught a CE LAJEADENSE RS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felipe Senna helped the player get up and apologised. José Carlos Negri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felippe Falcão in the 66th minute of play. In the 68th minute Simão Gerber shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jerônimo Vergílio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 70 minutes into the match, CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalkeeper Jerônimo Vergílio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luís Fabiano de Queiroz. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Simão Gerber in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jerônimo Vergílio saved CE LAJEADENSE RS from getting behind. Jerônimo Vergílio was out of position in the 72 minute of play, and Felipe Senna capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Felipe Senna really showed his touch with that goal: 2-7.
