Sebastião Velasco made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 11 minutes into the match, Nemoel United's goal looked a bit too open when Reginaldo Neiva came free, but Sebastião Velasco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 15 minutes into the game, Nemoel United's Hélder de Amaral nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eliseu Prado made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adilson Ferraz in the 22nd minute of play forced Nemoel United's goalkeeper Sebastião Velasco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sebastião Velasco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reginaldo Neiva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Nemoel United defense, Reginaldo Neiva kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sebastião Velasco. The Nemoel United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sebastião Velasco should have stopped the shot. In the 34th minute, Dagoberto Novaes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 43rd minute, Hélder de Amaral got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 46 minutes of play, Butanta SS's Jardel Coutinho made it 2-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sebastião Velasco was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 2-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Hélder de Amaral made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Dagoberto Novaes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Butanta SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dagoberto Novaes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nemoel United's Sebastião Velasco proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Nemoel United from getting a goal against them. In the 58th match minute, Butanta SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Severino França to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Nemoel United's Daniel Sena got a free kick in the 59th minute. Sebastião Velasco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jardel Coutinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. In the 67th minute Hélder de Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eliseu Prado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 68th minute, Reginaldo Neiva ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sebastião Velasco was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-6. In the 72nd minute, Jardel Coutinho reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Sebastião Velasco. The goal made the score 2-7. Reginaldo Neiva might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sebastião Velasco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Reginaldo Neiva ran back to his position shaking his head. After recieving a nice pass, Butanta SS's Claudinho Guimarães tried to score from far away in the 78th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 81stth minute of the game Hélder de Amaral who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Butanta SS's Eliseu Prado was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Reginaldo Neiva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Sebastião Velasco made a huge save. The Butanta SS supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Butanta SS would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
