The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5th minute Dalmacio Gonsalvo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leo Ermano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Andriy Shevchenko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leo Ermano having to interfere. After 14 played minutes VALENBOY F.C got a freekick which was hit by Sebastian Gaueko. In the 16th minute of the game Jacinto Ieltxu made a throw-in which Alfonso Argina played forward. Leo Ermano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andriy Shevchenko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 20 minutes, Andriy Shevchenko managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Piro FC - River Plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andriy Shevchenko was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 25 minutes into the match, Piro FC - River Plate's Delmiro Loreto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Leo Ermano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Aaron Mergildo fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 29th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. In the 36th match minute, VALENBOY F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacinto Ieltxu to maneuver through the defense. VALENBOY F.C's Leo Ermano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andriy Shevchenko in the 37th minute of play. Dalmacio Gonsalvo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Leo Ermano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leo Ermano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andriy Shevchenko in the 46th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Andriy Shevchenko made the kick off in the second half. After 54 played minutes VALENBOY F.C got a freekick which was hit by Jacinto Ieltxu. After 59 minutes VALENBOY F.C's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Andriy Shevchenko who took care of the corner kick. At last the ball reached Delmiro Loreto at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of VALENBOY F.C. 0-1. Aaron Mergildo charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aaron Mergildo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to VALENBOY F.C getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Aaron Mergildo hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Piro FC - River Plate defense, Aaron Mergildo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Claudio Ugaitz. The Piro FC - River Plate fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Claudio Ugaitz should have stopped the shot. Leo Ermano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Delmiro Loreto in the 78th minute of play. Dalmacio Gonsalvo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leo Ermano having to interfere. Piro FC - River Plate's Andriy Shevchenko got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Piro FC - River Plate's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
