Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Aaron Bowie started the match with the kick off. In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind Arbroath's goalkeeper Logan McMenzies, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Aaron Bowie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Logan McMenzies made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Johnny McLergain in the 12th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Josh Cumin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Logan McMenzies. Arbroath's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Josh Cumin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. 23 minutes into the match, Arbroath's goal looked a bit too open when Johnny McLergain came free, but Logan McMenzies reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 25 minutes, Declan Train managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arbroath's supporters crossed their fingers, but Declan Train was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Declan Train sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Logan McMenzies made an important save on a dangerous shot by Josh Cumin in the 34th minute. Darren McNuyer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Declan Train's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. Aaron Bowie blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Darren McNuyer having to make a save. After some careless play in the Rangers FC defense, Declan Train kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Darren McNuyer. The Rangers FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Darren McNuyer should have stopped the shot. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Johnny McLergain stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Drew Caw came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Rangers FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Drew Caw couldn't finish the play. In the 57thth minute of the game Josh Cumin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Arbroath's Logan McMenzies was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Johnny McLergain might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Logan McMenzies. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Johnny McLergain ran back to his position shaking his head. Logan McMenzies showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Josh Cumin in the 60th minute of the match. Theo McCause kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. In the 70th play minute Declan Train came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Darren McNuyer. 2-2. If Johnny McLergain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 75 played minutes Arbroath got a freekick which was hit by Ewan McAuslan. Aaron Bowie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darren McNuyer having to interfere. Jim Dobbie kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Logan McMenzies made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Johnny McLergain in the 98th minute of play. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
