The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Evert Vassenius took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hugo Termander. Hugo Termander dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Bengt-Arne Browald made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kevin Wallin in the 30th minute. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Mölndal's goalkeeper Bengt-Arne Browald, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dominik Sroki sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bengt-Arne Browald made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Paul Featherson sent off a good shot on target. Paul Featherson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Bengt-Arne Browald tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Dan Jelm fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mölndal's protests and gave Dan Jelm a yellow card for diving instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paul Featherson got free with Bengt-Arne Browald in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Paul Featherson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck to make the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edvard Hellström during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. PerHassans bollkallar's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. In the 95th minute Paul Featherson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bengt-Arne Browald saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the PerHassans bollkallar players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
