Spoleto Calcio's defense didn't have a chance, in the 25th minute, when Cristoforo Marconi scored to the left of an out of position Concetto Villani, making the score, 3-0. Fedele Santalucia was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 31 minutes into the match. Fabiano Petruzzi had in the 32ndth minute some difficulties stopping Fausto Di Lullo's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 34th minute Emilio De Carolis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabiano Petruzzi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Concetto Villani made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniele Di Placido in the 43rd minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Spoleto Calcio's Concetto Villani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniele Di Placido in the 55th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniele Di Placido in the 63rd minute of play forced Spoleto Calcio's goalkeeper Concetto Villani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
