The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Célestin Poirson struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Jolan Cot didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Soucy. In the 6th minute, Titouan Bonnamy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 10 minutes into the match, Célestin Poirson notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Montpellier's Jolan Cot. Jolan Cot was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Remi Rabu came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Montpellier fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Remi Rabu couldn't finish the play. If Christian Carrer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Titouan Bonnamy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Romaric Metz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Moïse Gagliardi kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. After 29 played minutes Montpellier got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Gerbault. Jolan Cot took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Quentin Méric, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlos Gerbault charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Carlos Gerbault the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Carlos Gerbault kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. In the 35th minute Quentin Méric shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jolan Cot saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jolan Cot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Célestin Poirson in the 36th minute of play. 39 minutes into the game, Célestin Poirson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Soucy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montpellier the free kick. In the 42nd minute, Montpellier's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Quentin Méric fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Christian Carrer made the kick off in the second half. Moïse Gagliardi charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Moïse Gagliardi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 60th match minute, Soucy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Moïse Gagliardi to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Quentin Méric in the 63rd minute of play forced Montpellier's goalkeeper Jolan Cot to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Soucy getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Célestin Poirson hit a great ball. 75 minutes into the game, Soucy's Moïse Gagliardi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jolan Cot made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Moïse Gagliardi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Jolan Cot tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Soucy's Moïse Gagliardi got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jolan Cot took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Quentin Méric, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. For all the effort they put into the match, the Montpellier players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Soucy.
