The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the game, Leroy Herrera was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Almuniente CD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave P.D. Rayo Duero the free kick. In the 4th match minute, Almuniente CD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leroy Herrera to maneuver through the defense. Ponc Contreras made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mancio Herrera in the 5th minute of play. Almuniente CD's Ponc Contreras played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Melquiades Mera in the 6th minute of play. 10 minutes into the match, Javier Nadal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eriberto Griful. P.D. Rayo Duero's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Javier Nadal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 14 minutes into the game, Romualdo Quevedo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Almuniente CD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave P.D. Rayo Duero the free kick. When Romualdo Quevedo was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 18 minutes had been played. Javier Nadal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mancio Herrera received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Ponc Contreras tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 29 minutes, Ponc Contreras successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Mancio Herrera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ponc Contreras having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Almuniente CD's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Iratxo Bermudez fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In a very dangerous position, a player in Almuniente CD fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 42nd minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 44 minutes, P.D. Rayo Duero's Mancio Herrera got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ponc Contreras. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Javier Nadal to strike the kick off in the second half. Iratxo Bermudez might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ponc Contreras. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Iratxo Bermudez ran back to his position shaking his head. Ponc Contreras showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iratxo Bermudez in the 56th minute of the match. If Melquiades Mera had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 60th minute, Mancio Herrera got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Iratxo Bermudez came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the P.D. Rayo Duero fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iratxo Bermudez couldn't finish the play. 62 minutes into the game, P.D. Rayo Duero's Mancio Herrera nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ponc Contreras made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. After having played for 65 minutes, Mancio Herrera managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. P.D. Rayo Duero's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mancio Herrera was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Iratxo Bermudez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ponc Contreras having to interfere. Almuniente CD's Ponc Contreras played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iratxo Bermudez in the 70th minute of play. In the 72nd minute, Iratxo Bermudez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Mancio Herrera had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Melquiades Mera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iratxo Bermudez in the 78th minute of play forced Almuniente CD's goalkeeper Ponc Contreras to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rexino Leon's late challenge caught a P.D. Rayo Duero's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rexino Leon helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Almuniente CD getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Rexino Leon hit a great ball. In the 83rd minute Iratxo Bermudez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ponc Contreras saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. P.D. Rayo Duero's Mancio Herrera got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ponc Contreras showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Melquiades Mera in the 89th minute of the match. Eriberto Griful came out of the goal in the 90th minute to try and stop a shot by Almuniente CD's Javier Nadal. But to his dismay, Javier Nadal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. After having played for 93 minutes, Mancio Herrera managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. P.D. Rayo Duero's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mancio Herrera was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ponc Contreras showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iratxo Bermudez, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. Mancio Herrera received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Ponc Contreras tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
