In the 8th minute Auckland Koalas were awarded a corner. Beto Marcico went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Beto Marcico almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Type O Negative's José Luis Chilavert did a great save. José Luis Chilavert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matei Ciocan in the 15th minute of play. Thor Hammer hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 23rd minute, Thor Hammer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kristjan Mäetaguse fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Luis Chilavert having to interfere. José Luis Chilavert didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kristjan Mäetaguse went, in the 30th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 35th minute, Thor Hammer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Auckland Koalas's Viljar Kabral got control of the ball when Black Death tried to sneak it across the goal line. Haarald Koop charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Haarald Koop the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 39th match minute, Type O Negative was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Haarald Koop to maneuver through the defense. In the 44th minute, Black Death got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

José Luis Chilavert made a fantastic save in the 97th minute, when Joosep Remmelgas sent off a good shot on target. The Type O Negative supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Auckland Koalas's performance. The match ended with a win for Auckland Koalas.
