Feruz Abbasäliyev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mäcid Cümşüdov in the 9th minute of the match. 13 minutes into the match, Abşeron's goalkeeper Häsän Bädiyev had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eşqin Ağacanov. In the 14th minute, Ağam Tähmäzov left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Qarabag CF fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Häsän Bädiyev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eşqin Ağacanov, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Abşeron's goal looked a bit too open when Ağam Tähmäzov came free, but Häsän Bädiyev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Müşfiq Qäribov in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Häsän Bädiyev saved Abşeron from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bent Raison got free with Häsän Bädiyev in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Felix Augustin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Feruz Abbasäliyev having to interfere. 29 minutes into the match, Felix Augustin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Feruz Abbasäliyev. Qarabag CF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felix Augustin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. In the 35th minute, Felix Augustin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Abşeron fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. If Vasya Utanov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 41 minutes in the game, Müşfiq Qäribov fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Häsän Bädiyev having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Qarabag CF's Akif Zamanov got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Felix Augustin kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Felix Augustin stood ready after the free kick and tried to head the ball into the goal, but got pushed from behind by one of Qarabag CF's defenders and the ball went out. Abşeron appealed in vain for a penalty, the referee looked over at the linesman, but the flag stayed down. No Penalty. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Qarabag CF's Häsän Zülfüqarov was substituted for Akif Zamanov. Abşeron's Teymur Mämmädov was substituted for Islam Isayev. Abşeron's Mürsäl Kazımlı was substituted for Tural Zeynalov. In the 52nd minute Bent Raison shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Häsän Bädiyev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Qarabag CF were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Abşeron's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Eşqin Ağacanov took the corner. When Mürsäl Kazımlı fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Abşeron's protests and gave Mürsäl Kazımlı a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Abşeron's Mürsäl Kazımlı got a free kick in the 70th minute. Teymur Mämmädov charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Teymur Mämmädov the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 72nd minute, Teymur Mämmädov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 74 minutes, Felix Augustin took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Feruz Abbasäliyev to make any attempt to save it. Abşeron's Häsän Bädiyev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tzanko Ayvazov in the 77th minute of play. Qarabag CF's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Eşqin Ağacanov in the 79th minute. Felix Augustin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Feruz Abbasäliyev having to interfere. Feruz Abbasäliyev made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Felix Augustin sent off a good shot on target. Bent Raison received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Häsän Bädiyev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Häsän Bädiyev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eşqin Ağacanov in the 89th minute of play. The supporters of Qarabag CF booed when Abşeron was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Şiralı Hacibäyov didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 91st minute Tzanko Ayvazov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Häsän Bädiyev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tzanko Ayvazov struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Häsän Bädiyev didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Qarabag CF. Felix Augustin scored 1-5 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Feruz Abbasäliyev, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Abşeron players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
