Bob Lunt kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Jaffery Addison received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Payton Gray tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Sydney FC defense, Art Hicks kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Payton Gray. The Sydney FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Payton Gray should have stopped the shot. When Nero Tucknott fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The audience was convinced that Jaffery Addison's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Payton Gray was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

Payton Gray stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jaffery Addison's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Payton Gray showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Art Hicks in the 90th minute of the match. FC Limulus's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
