After 7 played minutes U21 Azerbaijan got a freekick which was hit by Rüfät Balağayev. The crowd rose to their feet as Alexander Mejía kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Orxan Qasimov. That made the score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. U21 Colombia's Alexander Mejía was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Orxan Qasimov in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After a rather tough play, U21 Colombia's Onofre Lizano got a free kick in the 14th minute. Willie Colons short, quick shot in the 17thth minute got Orxan Qasimov to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Willie Colon could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Orxan Qasimov made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adışirin Azayev in the 25th minute of play forced U21 Colombia's goalkeeper Santiago Fuentes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A beautiful save bye U21 Azerbaijan's goalie prevented a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sansone Araña got free with Orxan Qasimov in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 34th minute Willie Colon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Orxan Qasimov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Santiago Fuentes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tofiq Zülfüqarov in the 35th minute of the match. Willie Colon was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 38th minute. U21 Colombia's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Willie Colon took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Orxan Qasimov to make any attempt to save it. With his leg Orxan Qasimov managed to avoid a goal in the 43rdth minute, when U21 Colombia's Willie Colon fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. U21 Colombia's Santiago Fuentes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adışirin Azayev in the 46th minute of play. Orxan Qasimov stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Willie Colon's shot from short distance in the 47th minute.

The wind increased when Willie Colon made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Willie Colon in the 52nd minute of play forced U21 Azerbaijan's goalkeeper Orxan Qasimov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to U21 Azerbaijan getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Elman Zeynälzadä hit a great ball. In the 55th minute of the match Alexander Mejía sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Orxan Qasimov skillfully saved the ball. In the 59th minute Willie Colon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Orxan Qasimov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 Colombia's Santiago Fuentes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sälim Rüstämov in the 60th minute of play. After 61st play minutes Willie Colon shot 3-0, a short shot which went by Orxan Qasimov and just under the crossbar into goal. U21 Colombia's Epifanio Leceta was substituted for Willie Colon. U21 Colombia's Frasco Collazo was substituted for Yasser Asprilla. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Azerbaijan's goalkeeper Orxan Qasimov, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Epifanio Leceta's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Orxan Qasimov was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. After 77 played minutes U21 Colombia got a freekick which was hit by Onofre Lizano. Epifanio Leceta took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Orxan Qasimov. Orxan Qasimov dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Orxan Qasimov came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Colombia's Frasco Collazo. But to his dismay, Frasco Collazo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0.
