Sergio Madrid came free with the goalkeeper in the 7th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Evaristo Neves could save by the left post. 13 minutes into the match, Doriva Sousa notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of U21 Mexico's Roque Fernendo. Roque Fernendo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Sergio Madrid took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Evaristo Neves to make any attempt to save it. Sergio Madrid's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Evaristo Neves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. 31 minutes into the match, U21 Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Doriva Sousa came free, but Roque Fernendo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 32nd minute U21 Brazil were awarded a corner. Aloísio Schmidt went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Aloísio Schmidt almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Mexico's Roque Fernendo did a great save. Doriva Sousa took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Roque Fernendo. Roque Fernendo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. After having played for 38 minutes, Doriva Sousa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Brazil's supporters crossed their fingers, but Doriva Sousa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 41 played minutes U21 Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Rigoberto Martxelin. Sergio Madrid received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Evaristo Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, U21 Mexico's Rigoberto Martxelin got a free kick in the 45th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cássio Rocks to strike the kick off in the second half. Xande Campbell scored 1-4 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Roque Fernendo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. U21 Brazil's Henry Costa was substituted for Cássio Rocks. U21 Brazil made a substitution. Pedro Lucas replaced Pontus Picado. Henry Costa's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 68thth minute, Roque Fernendo skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Henry Costa had several of the U21 Mexico's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 68 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-5 score and a disappointed Roque Fernendo as he didn't even see the shot coming. Evaristo Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastian Bihar in the 74th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Henry Costa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Roque Fernendo. That made the score 1-6 in the 81 minute of play. Roque Fernendo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Gustavo de Amaral in the 87th minute of the match. Roque Fernendo was a little too slow when Henry Costa got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 91st minute. The score was now 1-7. Roque Fernendo made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Luís Gustavo de Amaral sent off a good shot on target. In the 97th minute, Alberto Villarreal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. U21 Mexico's Roque Fernendo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Gustavo de Amaral in the 100th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Gustavo de Amaral in the 101st minute of play forced U21 Mexico's goalkeeper Roque Fernendo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match was over U21 Brazil could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than U21 Mexico throughout the match.
