Artur Romanov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hubert De Backer in the 15th minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, U21 Russia's goal looked a bit too open when Piet Goemyne came free, but Artur Romanov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A very good chance. Konstantin Aprelev hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Timofey Lapitskiy got free with Jaques Wyfliets in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 44th minute Piet Goemyne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Artur Romanov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Charl De Vreese scored 0-1 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Artur Romanov, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Timofey Lapitskiy made the kick off in the second half. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Artur Romanov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Artur Romanov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Piet Goemyne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jaques Wyfliets showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ruslan Goloveshko in the 72nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruslan Goloveshko in the 72nd minute of play forced U21 Belgium's goalkeeper Jaques Wyfliets to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ilya Duryagin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Jaques Wyfliets tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jaques Wyfliets came out of the goal in the 88th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Russia's Ilya Duryagin. But to his dismay, Ilya Duryagin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. In the 91st minute, Andrey Zhdanov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot by Xander Goos from long distance, 92 minutes into the match, got Artur Romanov's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Jaques Wyfliets stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ilya Duryagin's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. In the 95th minute U21 Russia were awarded a corner. Ruslan Volochkov went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 97thth minute of the game Ilya Duryagin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Belgium's Jaques Wyfliets was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
