When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Bernie Gauthier took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for 김 담 to make any attempt to save it. U21 South Korea's 김 담 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duncan Hatfield in the 12th minute of play. After having played for 17 minutes, Duncan Hatfield managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 United States's supporters crossed their fingers, but Duncan Hatfield was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kevin Dawson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 김 영 in the 19th minute of the match. In the 20th match minute, U21 South Korea was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by 조 내 to maneuver through the defense. 김 담 was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Sonny Estes. Kevin Dawson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 김 안 in the 37th minute of play. 김 담 made an important save on a dangerous shot by Duncan Hatfield in the 42nd minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when 김 영 made the kick off in the second half. Kevin Dawson was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but 김 견 showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 51 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Duncan Hatfield in the 58th minute of play forced U21 South Korea's goalkeeper 김 담 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kevin Dawson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 김 영, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. In the 62nd minute, 김 견 left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 South Korea fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. U21 South Korea made a substitution. 김 탁 replaced 포 유. U21 South Korea's 김 해 was substituted for 김 창. U21 United States's Sean Egan was substituted for Duncan Hatfield. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bernie Gauthier in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg 김 담 saved U21 South Korea from getting behind. U21 South Korea's Saul Goodman was substituted for 김 안. After 75 minutes U21 South Korea's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Johnathon Harris who took care of the corner kick. The corner led U21 United States's Johnathon Harris to fire away a dangerous shot which 김 담 despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After a rather tough play, U21 South Korea's 김 견 got a free kick in the 85th minute. U21 South Korea's 김 담 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reinaldo Parnell in the 87th minute of play. Bernie Gauthier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reinaldo Parnell in the 93rd minute of play forced U21 South Korea's goalkeeper 김 담 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Bernie Gauthier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 김 담 stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sean Egan's shot from short distance in the 98th minute.
